Our new members will learn how to make a neck chain or bracelet, and how to solder. Soldering is the most important part of silversmithing to learn as it’s the start of being able to make just about anything in jewellery making.
Members then progress to learning:
- how to use the tools we have, for example putting a pattern on a piece of silver then making a ring or pendant, and
- how to use a saw to cut shapes.
When a member feels more confident to work on their own with their own designs, we are always ready to give advice or possibly explain an easier way to it.
The silversmithing shed has all the tools we need and learning how to use them is a lot of fun.
